Creative Expressions Tuesday Blog

From Paris .

Hi there , today's project uses several different stamps that you might not thought of using together. By using a very limited colour palette the different elements of this card fit nicely together. The colour palette is basically just three different shades of cream card and Decadent Oak colour cloud blending ink ( the brown colours ) and two toning ink pads (the blue colours ) .

The base of the card , using pale cream card , was embossed using the Wild Roses embossing folder . I rubbed Cloudy Blue ink around the sides of the panel ,then the Decadent Oak ink and finally a touch of  Cornflower Blue ink .

The next panel was made using the pale cream card . It was stamped with Cloudy Blue ink and a
background stamp --- Just Rite Cling stamp , Tulip Damask . I had to stamp this twice to continue the pattern so that the panel was large enough . The flourish from the Greetings from Paris stamp set was
stamped at the top and bottom of the panel with black ink . The soft blue stamping is quite subtle, but that was what I wanted as this is the background. You can also see a stamped postmark from the same stamp set .

The postcard , Paris plaque and stamps are from the same stamp set. The Rose is cut from Rose Vintage labels seven . I stamped the postcard onto a buff coloured card and antiqued it with Decadent Oak and the darker blue ink . The other images were stamped on a paler card and antiqued with Decadent Oak . I rubbed some ink from the dark blue ink pad onto my non stick Matt and then added
some water so that I could paint the roses .

I die cut some ivy leaves from the buff card and rubbed the brown and blue ink onto them to tone in with the design. I was very lucky to find some pretty lace in the right colour in my collection of lace which I stuck down the side of the base panel . I felt that the next panel didn't contrast enough with the base so I mounted it on black card before adding it to the base with foam pads . The postcard and roses were stuck down and then the plaque was added with foam pads . Finally the die cut ivy was added .
All the different elements on this card blend nicely together because I used this limited colour palette,  so I hope that this has  inspired you to try a limited palette of colours.
